2011 Tennis Season
End of season tournament will be held on Sunday 11 September. It is open to all members and those want to take part should let Steve Fenton 07751 963215 or Richard Cantrell 01904 795222 know by Saturday 10 September 2011. Come and join in the fun.
The Tennis season is almost over for the senior teams and the club has done amazingly well.
Promotion for the following teams
Mens 2nd team to Division 1
Mixed 4th team to Division 7
Mixed 5th team to Division 10
Good results for all the other teams see the teams and matches page for up to date results.
Junior teams have done fantastically well with 10 out of 11 teams wining their league and beating all the competition.
Outstanding result from the under 18 boys who won the Yorkshire League championship beating all the other teams in Yorkshire not just North Yorkshire.
Well done to all the team captains and their hard working teams. Also a big thank you to Belinda Turbull for her excellent coaching which has obviously paid off for everyone.

Social Tennis
We are keen to keep the monthly all members Thursday evening social tennis sessions going. Now that many of the team matches are over we do hope that all members will feel free to come and enjoy a social tennis night every THURSDAY EVENING.
By way of encouragement from now till the end of November the social nights tennis will have free floodlights and a committee member will be on hand to organise the games to ensure that all have a fun night
Most members are very keen to make up a four when the courts are free so come to the tournament and make new friends.

BOOKING COURTS
The club as for the past year implemented a system of booking courts to allow fair use of the courts by all players. Naturally matches take priority, followed by Belinda's coaching sessions, and members are encouraged to book their courts in advance to avoid an unnecessary trip. Social Tennis on Thursday evenings from 6.45 is for everyone to enjoy so you do not need to book your court to enjoy a friendly evening.
CLUB MARK
The Tennis Club has achieved Club Mark from the LTA.
The Club Mark means that there is a good programme for young players to achieve their full potential at tennis, to learn and take part in a sport that they can play for many years.
The Club Mark also means that we are committed to protecting our young players and giving them the best possible start in a wonderful sport.
As a club we are proud to have achieved this award which ensures that the club is managed effectively and can provide a nurturing environment for young people to play good quality, properly coached tennis

It has been acknowledged that if you are new to York this is the most likely place you will look for information about tennis clubs in the area. It is hoped that our updated information will encourage serious tennis players to consider joining Poppleton Tennis Club to keep up our high quality play in Division One for all the teams.
